With the economy in dire straits and the holidays soon upon us, Core Design, a local planning, surveying, engineering and landscape architecture firm, began their annual food drive.

Core Design has a reputation for attracting extremely competitive, good natured and giving individuals, and this year was no exception.  Core Design was split into 4 groups competing against each other to raise the most donations for Hopelink’s neediest location, the Bellevue Center.  Contacting anyone and everyone – from neighbors to family dentists – the donations started pouring in.   At the end of the two-week food drive, Core was able to raise over 4,000 lbs of donations, worth an estimated $6,000 of food and supplies.   This is the largest donation that Hopelink has received so far this year.

John Cayton, a Core surveyor, sums up this year’s food drive best: “We all joked about buying victory, beating other teams, stealing from each others’ (collection) boxes etc., but in all honesty it was impressive to watch and be a part of such giving in a crummy economy. I’m proud to be a part of this team…great job everyone.  I look forward to next year (5000 lbs)”
