Survey

Core Design’s Survey Department has been providing professional survey services to developers, government agencies, contractors, homeowners and others since the company’s inception over 50 years ago. Our Washington licensed professional land surveyors, supported by a talented group of survey office technicians and field surveyors, work closely with the client’s project team to provide the expert advice and services necessary to satisfy state and local requirements for a variety of land survey projects. The survey department also functions in support of our in-house Engineering, Planning and Landscape Architecture departments, providing existing conditions and as-constructed data for use in their workflow. The survey department is involved in, on average, over 150 projects per year.

An important belief of Core Design is to remain on the forefront of technology. Our survey field crews are equipped with Trimble GPS, Sokkia and Topcon Robotic total stations and sophisticated field computers for control, construction survey staking and data collection. The field crews can also be equipped to communicate voice and data information between project sites and the office. This communication allows us to perform surveys in areas that would preclude daily travel to the site.

As part of our effort to constantly improve upon our ability to serve our clients’ needs and to explore new markets, we also offer High Definition Scanning (HDS) services. HDS utilizes eye-safe lasers to collect up to 50,000 points per second. This 3-dimensional network of points is referred to as a point cloud. This data can be used to create 2D and 3D drawings as well as photorealistic models that can be used by architects, engineers, historical preservation specialists and designers, among other professions.
